After deciding to give them a story the well of ideas runs dry as Dickens discusses his troubles with his friends, all of whom appear in the classic tale. Befuddled with writers block, a concerned Charles Dickens wonders what gift he should give his children for the holiday. Seating is limited.Ī Dickens’ of a Christmas, written and produced by George Hosker-Bouley who also stars as Charles Dickens, returns for its 10th year with its unique spin of the classic A Christmas Carol. Tickets are $39.99 per person and must be reserved by calling the Old Salt Restaurant at 60. The evening includes a gourmet three-course dinner, live music, holiday carols and the show. It will make me feel very comfortable when she is out with her friends.HAMPTON - A Dickens’ of a Christmas, written by George Hosker-Bouley, will return for its 11th year at the Old Salt Restaurant, Lafayette Road, Hampton. I like the fact that I saw a place that is a favorite of my daughter and her friends. I’m too old to bowl but I will return to see more of this fine venue. I mistakenly thought this was a place for the 20-35 crowd but there were people of all ages enjoying themselves. Our bar tab was more than fair for a nice venue. Not too loud, but loud enough to be effective. He was interested in quality over producing quantity. I would suggest he does in-house training with the bar staff. I had one made by a nicely dressed young man behind the bar. The drinks were okay as made by the young female bartenders. That was nice for me since I’m not the kind who likes to stand and watch a band. My wife, myself, and our 25 year old daughter arrived early enough to get a table. The venue is very large, well maintained, and is suitable for family or for dates, or for someone looking “to meet someone new”. I think that is more than fair when you are paying two bands, and one is the quality Dustin Sonnier’s band. We paid $10 cover for 3 people to get in. This was our first time at Rock ‘n’ Bowl. Too often violinists in bands play well, but out of tune! You were great! Your performances we stellar! I especially appreciated the addition of the violin in the performance. Kudos to the Keyboard player, drummer, bass player and lead guitar, and the two youg guitarists. Cutting a few hundred dollars out of the band's fee would allow you to lower the cover, and being honest the overall performance would have been better. The main vocalist was not really needed as the two younger guys and the lead guitarist had great voices and could cover everything they did. The guitar player in the blue jacket at the right side of the stage was lost all night long, whereas the lead guitar player/soloist had incredible chops. I would ask them to cut some of the people out of the band and charge less. Note about the entertainment: The Eagles vs Fleetwood Mac band was OKAY AT BEST, definitely not worth the $20/person cover. We left early last evening, partly because standing is hard at an older age. If I could ask for anything it would be for more chairs long the walls. Keeping the DD prices low encourages people to have a DD in their party. Some places will charge double this price or more. I especially appreciate the fact that the Diet Coke is only $1.50. The prices of the drinks continue to be fair. I appreciate the fact that it is is clean considering the number of people who visit Rock 'n' Bowl. This venue has been here for a few years. This review is about the venue, not the entertainment, but I will make a note about it at the end. Last night we went to hear the Eagles vs Fleetwood Mac program. Once was a private party which was excellent in a room upstairs.
